Rooster, when you just run across the entire forum posting just to post or to bug me, well, just not inclined to answer you… put some more thought to it instead of bothering me and boosting your post count. The mental exertion might do you some good who knows.

Thanks Boomer, saw you said 10 miles from Chama, but with the 3rd person “railroad story” was not sure it was for you or the story!

Greg,

Who is the 3rd person and what “railroad story” ?

I just read back as suggested and I’m not understanding?

Will you two Bantman hens take it out back? Seriously.

I also note the large lower floor suitable for railroading(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Yeah, like ride-on!

Wow, what a place, and what a view…

Beautiful new home you are going to Boomer. Best of luck to you and the Mrs.(https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Boomer, ol buddy, ya done good! What a house! AND close to Chama. One can’t ask for more than that. I see there are two state parks close by with camping available. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the new RR.

Boomer, I’d sure love to be at your going away or new house swarming bar-b-que. Those pictures of meat on your gas grill and wood-fired smoker a while back made my mouth water just looking at it!!

Back to the fun, Boomer, is there a protected space under the house that can take some track? I think we are all anxious about your first thoughts on what you can/will do…

Greg

Wow, really beautiful house, and in a beautiful place!

Boomer, I don’t really care what the inside of the house looks like. What does the outside yard look like? Is it suitable for a layout? What challenges does it present? Inquiring minds want to know…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Could tear it up like this… us a Schwellenpflug

Just saw this and it’s crazy. Another side of it I didn’t even know about.

Wow, great looking place! I like the new layout I built here, so moves can work out fine. Can always get satellite internet.

There is a one and half car garage under the house that will be the inside, scenery part of the layout. This will be the area considered to be the town of Cibola including industry, yard and the mine loop etc. It is a big space almost as large as my current layout. The track will exit through the door on the north side of the garage circle out onto the hill side and then sweep around the front before re-entering on the south side. This will be a raised layout. No more crawling on the ground. As close as I could come to an all inside layout.

Just short of 3 acres but it is mostly grade. Does not look like it in the pics but it is around 37%.

For internet I am looking into Hughes net if anybody has experience with that.

Thanks for all the interest guys. This is about all the information I can supply until I get up there and do some serious measuring. Hope to be living there by Christmas.

Now your talking guy(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Yea, what Rick said…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Sounds great Boomer, inside and outside. Hughes net is ok, high latency, so not great on interactive sites. From looking at the area, (assuming you are pretty much due north of the lake) I would imagine that cable TV is nowhere near you. (tried looking up on google maps, but your street is not on google maps)

I would guess you have no other alternatives other than DSL from the phone company, which is miserable.
