My sincerest thanks for moderating this forum. I had negative experiences with sites dedicated to other hobbies, and I ghosted this site for a couple weeks before my first tentative posts. You have created and curated something perhaps unique in any hobby, an open and informative and WELCOMING place. We owe a great deal in the pace and direction of the Triple O’s development to the folks here, with their good humor, good advice, and even occasional infusion of spare parts! You’ve created a place that encourages trying and even accepting and sharing failure as part of the process. The battle cry of the household, “Clean this up!” gives evidence to the fact that lesson carries beyond the rails of the Triple O.
To 20 more years!

Yes, it’s been a great 20 years… Much water has gone under the dam and over the bridge in these years, but LSC has maintained stability, some sanity and a whole lot of help to Large Scale Modelers.

Congratulations on twenty years of LSC. I suppose the schism mentioned in your initial post was the sudden “wave goodbye from the back of a caboose & close the site” pulled by LSOL. Ironically, I still have the LSOL tee shirt I got in 1997. Now I wear it to mow the yard.

No, thats not all active users, that’s the first page of active users, sorted by the date they joined LSC. There’s actually a few pages of active people.
Wow it has been a while hasn’t it. Kinda had to do some personal reflection on this. Although I first got into large scale about '00 shortly after buying our house but I only lurked for years. I was very hesitant to participate in any online forums so I only read posts. When I did decide to participate the paywall at LSOL and certain members rather nasty attitudes was a big deterrent. So I only lurked, what drew me out of my shell was meeting folks at the Rusty Boat Show, the folks at MLS were open and friendly that got me to join about '04, I found LSCin '05 and joined in '06. I split my time pretty evenly between the two site, MLS was west coast based mostly and LSC east coast, so i got i great range of information from all over the country and life was good. Then Shad at MLS life got complicated and he decided to sell the site, and at first things were ok until the Great Thanksgiving F**kup, when some technochimpanzee with MLSs new owners either accidentally or “intentionally” deleted the entire photo storage of dozens of members, myself included, and wrecked access for hundreds more. Nothing but an “oh we’re sorry” So I bailed from there, and came here full time, I haven’t looked back.
So I am thankful to still have an online source of information and commarodery. I am grateful for your patience with us and for not throwing the site into electric oblivion although your patience has been sorely tried more than a few times. So in gratitude to our Benevolent Overlord and electric diety that keep the lights burning let us all join in praise of our Great Dictator and benefactor in wishing a Happy Birthday and singing the hymn " Please don’t Stir Fry us in a Wok"

Bob, just want to say thanks for your creation here.
I haven’t been around nearly as long as some others, but for a number of years now, LSC has been my go-to place for making railroady friends, documenting whatever progress I’m attempting at one project or another, and learning gobs from some of the most experienced people in the hobby.
Oh, and the Drag 'n Brag: what a hoot. Always something I look forward to through the year.
No matter how crappy a work day has gone, LSC always hands out the chance to make the day better – by seeing what others are up to, learning of some pertinent news, or just jawboning. Indeed, you’ve assembled quite a cast of characters here! And, from where I sit, you’ve managed us all very well.
But like I’ve been saying for a few years now, you just need to make sure we cover your expenses at least!!
So I’m grabbing a “special” beer (a rare IPA, vs. a Busch Lite), and am hoisting a bottle to you, Mr. Benevolent Dictator, and to your next 20.1 years with us mugs. May your benevolency never give you high blood pressure, but instead the joy of knowing you’re providing a marvelous playground for idiot kids. And may your dictatorial duties continue to be, or at least sometimes attempt to be, rewarding and satisfying.
