Large Scale Central

Finishing some more projects.

Moving along with some details.

Here’s how the wires come up through the pivot.

That needed a cover

Cab seat basic shape.

Some castings for foot rests. There will be a control box between them and the seats.

Closeup of some of the details for the electronics box on the back of each cab. Some 3D printed, some cast in resin.

And starting on the electronics boxes on the back of each cab. There will be a big box between these smaller bits, with various things attached.

Details, details. This is an interesting project. Looking good so far, Bob.

Love the pivot solution. Can’t wait for the cabling and ditch lites!

Here’s a shot of most of the boxes that will live on the back of each cab. There’s also an equipment box with fans next to the battery box. There will be five cables going from each cab to the battery box, 3 on one side, two on the other.

Wow! Awesome work there BD !!! Looking really cool and can’t wait to see the end product motoring around the mine site. Is it going to be on a back and forth circuit on the layout , or free rein to run everywhere?

Some more work on the mining loco this weekend. Have the battery box just about done, just need the cable connectors, but I did print the lifting loops.

Here’s a test print of the center console. Looks like the size is about right.

And a test fit of the seats. I need to scale them up a bit.

A face only a mother (or a rooster) could love.

The crew is gonna love them cushy seats…Looking good!

There are a ton of electrical cables connecting the battery box to each cab. I’ve printed half of the connectors, and test fit some of the tubing.

The connectors look great …perhaps you can push about 3 or 4 … 22 gauge wires through those connectors instead of the tubing for a bit more detail?

This post has been edited by :Rooster …Just saying ?

I should probably rename this post to something like '7/8 Clayton Mining Locomotive"… but anyway…

Connectors attached to each end of the battery box.

And how a cable looks connected between the battery box and the cab equipment boxes.

They’re removable on the cab end because of a flush-set screw, and a rare-earth magnet.

Hmm very sneaky…I like it … hiding the screw like that … (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Now that’s quite ingenious, Bob. Thanks for sharing that little nugget.

Just don’t use an aluminum screw…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Why not ?

You’re sure doing an amazing job on the mining loco, I love all the 3d printing you’re doing.

And wow, that ore house is gorgeous…
