Yesterday afternoon I cut the parts needed …
Today I’m pinning them without glue because the bridge will be in a captive spot between 2 hills… and it’s a lot faster!
I used my band saw to trim the ones I left long on top…
As a scrounger … I save marginal wood …
Covered with bridge ties no one will kn would have known without my big mouth …
Time to run errands, I’ll be cutting bridge ties and laying rail across … mebbe.
John, I have been anxiously waiting to see this bridge start to come together and you have delivered. I wouldn’t define the wood as marginal, let’s say wood with character. Gives the bridge that been here for a hundred years look. Great job so far.

It’s ok, I stuck a pair of arches in place and discovered the gap was less. In my mind’s eye there are vertical bents at the ends and a shorty up on the shelf on the right. I’ll throw dirt around so you can see better when it’s ready.

i like how you talk about using old wood like its a bad thing when everyone else here is trying unsuccessfully to make their new wood look as good as your old wood. Mother nature sure does a better weathering job than me.
