A jackass is a very underrated and under respected animal. They can pack as much or more than a horse yet they are smaller in stature. Sure footed in rough terrain. Tended not to wander off. Could be a bit stubborn but when you get them to work they usually never quite. They are not glamours or sexy, but at the end of the day a jackass is far more useful than a thoroughbred. Oh and they can kill a cougar that happens on the trail in front of you.
besides they can be kinda cute too.
