Backwoods LGB Porter

OMG, that is so cute! I love the treatment you did on the wood, how did you get that gorgeous gray? It looks like the wood on my Renaissance shop but that building has been sitting out in the elements for 30 years!

Thanks for the wonderful compliments

Cynnthia: I just use a mixture of a couple acrylic paints to create a gray, probably there is a gray, that will work, then wire brushed with a brass wire brush. Then dry brushed with a off white paint. A brass wire brush will darken the color a little where it is used.

That is just fantastic. Excellent job. Great weathering and attention to detail. The held-together-barely look is wonderful.

You have any pictures from earlier stages by chance? Anything you found particularly tricky? Or was it smooth sailing the whole way?

A great modelling job.

I have four of these and have pondered “bashing” one for ages…but…too chicken!!

Furthest I have got is to rewire them for battery power.

Jim Thank you for the compliments

Sorry I am not good at pictures as I am building sometimes. Lucky for me I design large equipment in my business so designing something like this is quite simple, I draw it up in 3D CAD then cut out on a laser, i love making stuff look old, The main thing is I am not afraid of messing up, because I can fix it .

I’m really late getting caught up on this, but wow! Really nice work, Dennis!

Thanks Ray I appreciate your compliments

I love this loco! I have my eye on one of these for my layout. This would definitely be something I’d have to try…

Me too - Just caught this thread because Ray’s comment brought it back up to the top. Great looking loco!

Glad this was brought back to the top. Well deserving praise. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

That is a dandy, Dennis… That locomotive is just itching to be “bashed”. It makes such good “bash” fodder. When the PCSRR was running, a “bashed” LGB Porter was one of the favorites.

Wonderful job… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
