More Bad news for the Train World

This will be missed if they can’t bring it back

Well, bummer. But that is understandable after a century and a quarter

… and it has been determined that the infrastructure and equipment has run its course.

And that too is understandable,

The resources are very limited and all outside of the US for trains and replacement parts. The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cog Railway is one of two cog railways in the United States, and one of only 40 in the world.

Was going to ride last summer, but chose Rocky Mtn. National park instead. The park was awesome, but now I feel I should have done the peak.

Ah but if you had read to the bottom you would have learned that they plan to reopen in the spring…'Instead of Closed… it should read

Closed for repairs…

If YOU had read to to the end and comprehended what was written you would have seen that the last part was from Nov. 2017. The plan to open in the spring (2018) was superseded by closing for the rest of 2018. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

My wife and I took the cog to Pikes Peak in the summer of 2017. Fantastic ride! I’m glad we did it when we did. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Comprehend??? That’s never stopped any of us before! Is this new?(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Yeah, it sounded really bad at first, but it seems that they are just regrouping, and it’s taken a lot longer.

Interesting to me was that being open in the winter is more of a recent situation, used to be closed in winter, and that winter operation is TEN TIMES the wear on the system.

Seems the prudent thing to do right away is go back to non-winter operation and then carefully evaluate if it can be operated profitably year-round.

My guess is that someone was not factoring in maintenance properly, seems to be very popular with visitors, no shortage of riders.
