Thinning collection

Hello, David M. I did not say that there are no 1:24 steel cars in the USAT lineup. My comment was triggered by your statement on March 23 that USAT reefers are woodside. According to their online catalog, USAT steel reefers are 1:29. Maybe I should have specified steel side reefers are 1:29. Yes, USAT has steel boxcars in 1:24, but not steel reefers. I took the information straight from the USAT catalog on line. Have a nice day.

Michael, the 20th anniversary show cars from York were first done it 4 colors to see how they looked. Blue was decided on and the other three colors were dropped. All 4 looked so good to me, I was planning to buy one of each and was a little disappointed that only blue was available at the show.

Bill, maybe someone should send a picture of the blue car to these guys, especially if it was the only one that was ever available to the public. They only show the other 3 colors here:

Also, there’s a good thread here where we just talked about the USAT reefers:

Bill, its just that someone reading along may not know the distinction, and may think all of the USA steel cars are 1:29. That’s all I meant by be careful. USA has the 2 lines, and that has confused many folks who aren’t familiar with them. When I said USA reefers were 1:24, I should have clarified and said that their wood reefers are that scale. So I should also have been more careful in my statement.

I did not know that they did not do a steel reefer in 1:24. I have a few steel, and 2 composite boxcars in 1:24, from USA Trains. When I bought them, I thought that they were 1:29, until I got them home. That is when I discovered that USA Trains has two different lines of cars.
