Ooooooo nice…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Beautiful work.

Looking great Shane!

What is the air reservoir made from? At first glance it reminded me of a pill capsule.

Thanks Guys, I’m glad you’re enjoying the progress. Hopefully over the next few days I can get some markings applied.

Eric, They are test tubes. I use them for locomotive reservoirs as well. They have a slight taper, so for the locomotive reservoirs, both ends must be the same length to get a good joint.

Masking is a lot of fun with all of the ribs, but it’s worth it. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Thanks for the test tube idea. That a great way of doing it. And the fact they are polystyrene is even better. A lifetime supply for $25.00

That car looks great Shane , lots of great detail . I’m trying out the Kadee trucks for the first time too. They look like they will track really good. Now get it all beat up and rusty.

Devon, you’re very welcome. I felt the same way about the “lifetime supply”. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Thanks Mike. I love the Kadee trucks. I’ll be using them on all future projects. I got some rust on the wheels and couplers. That’s a start. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Shane awesome looking car …were you going to show some wear on the inside ?

I really think they came out great… How many did you end up making ?

Shane-

Great looking car! Will you add brake piping detail underneath the car?

Thanks Guys.

Sean, my car shops are full, so there will be seven eventually. One problem I’ve run into is I keep running out of parts. There is also a squirrel on the shops for days that I need something different. The insides of the coal cars have a glossy black coating, with coal dust covering the lower areas. I mimicked it with gloss and flat black, but it doesn’t show at all in the photos. Maybe if I take it outside it will show. The sulphur cars have a light yellow/cream coloured coating. As the coating wears, it will show some rust stains, but they were pretty good about taking care of the insides. Corrosion was a major concern on the sulphur cars, so they were well cared for.

Eric, the main brake line is installed, but is well hidden. I’m not sure how I’m going to handle the brake rigging. I’m considering making it entirely from brass, and then using epoxy to attach it to the aluminum channel.

Thanks Shane for the info. Keep going, inquiring minds love to follow along (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

David, have they visited your neck of the woods?

Yup. But I don’t remember them being quite so…clean.
