Tandy/Radio Shack came to the UK mid 1970’s it seems. They sold out to a car 'phone company at the end of the last century. Luckily there are companies who fulfill their role still over here.
Heathkits: ah! the much loved Heathkits were manufactured in the UK in Gloucester for around 30 years until the early 1980’s. I never built one myself as I lacked the acumen and time.
