Donkey build

Looking good

Cliff;

I’m going to wax King James version Biblical and say that you are turning out a great looking ass (donkey)! I’ve never seen an ass in so many pieces before, but I am sure the end product (pun intended) will be spectacular.

Best wishes, David Meashey

Okay, what’s next Cliff as far as us potential customers go?

Doc

Thanks David, haha! Something tells me you rewrote those sentences at least once. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Doc… have you check your pm’s recently? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Wow, that’s some impressive printing there, Cliff. I’m sure being able to print your own parts has your wheels turning on a whole new list of projects (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)Hurry up and finish this one before we all pass out with anticipation wondering what the next one will be. What resin are you using?

Wonderful! How much post print fiddling will you have to do (not sure how you can characterize it: minutes per part?)???

Thanks Dan, (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)Yeah, more projects than I care to think of, haha!

This will be awhile though, so hang in there with me, buddy!

I’m using Siraya Tech “Fast”, seems pretty good for regular stuff.

Thanks Jim, and as usual, you put your finger right on the problem… Let’s just say “gobs” of fiddling per part (eventually). Theoretically, this is a test run, with a final version to follow. So I hope I’m not gonna sweat it too much for now. I hope to get things roughly in place this weekend, at least enough to identify glitches.

Thanks, Cliff. I’ve been using Siraya Tech Sculpt and Blu. The Blu seems to cure better than the Sculpt and the Sculpt is quite brittle. Looking forward to seeing your ass … I mean donkey come together. Sorry, Dave M put me up to that (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Well, as long as you guys don’t mess with KJV “knew,” you’re good.

I did the initial part breakup / separation this afternoon, found some failures, and reprinting those.

Here’s a size comparison with the B’man version.

[edit] After my efforts on this, I really gotta hand it to B’mann. Their donkey has a lot of great detail, especially in the piping. And it seems just fine for a smaller donkey (should look up what horsepower it would represent).

That looks more like a draft horse than a donkey (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Hoo, hoo, hoo! More power!

I missed that size comparison post. That is a big fella! What scale is this? 1:20?

You got it Jim, 1:20.

It’s kinda medium size for this line of AHD hoist engine, but big enough for me at least. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Very nice, Cliff. I have been telling myself for years to buy a 3D printer, but have yet to make the leap. You may be pushing me over the edge!

Cheers,

Matt

At long last, I finished this thing. I had to give up on the motorizing, because the bits of friction in all the joints added up to no workie. Some day I’ll probably have another go, replacing this model’s critical joint parts with ones printed in metal and nylon. That’s why I’ll leave it unpainted for now.

Fantastic. I know a few museums who would love your files.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
