Have to admit that the GWR had some handsome mainline locos…and the ones I saw at Cardiff were always spotless.
The wife and I travelled on our honeymoon to London Paddington on the Red Dragon express in 1954.
I remember it really shifted once it came out of the Severn Tunnel…Must have been close to 80mph or even just over - (seemed like it to me anyway)!!(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
