Large Scale Central

Buildings on the Babs River Railway

Nice weekend, but not time to get trains on the track, so I took a few pictures of the buildings I have finished ( except the interiors) and one still under construction. Still need to find the proper bases.

First up is the current construction, Eli’s Engineering Corp. Grandson Eli keeps changing his mind on what he wants so a generic concrete building will be his.

This is the CEO/SHMBO/CINCHOUSE’s building, Debbie’s Chocolates. It is the back half of a Colorado Model building I cut in half, made the tall front out of coroplast, added the front awning and I have made a wooden sidewalk for it, but waiting for some glue to dry.

Next is daughter Lacey’s Outdoor and Camping supplies. The front half of the Colorado building.

Caleb’s Equipment Co. The base is floor tile, the roll up doors are painted and waiting to dry and be installed and this will be finished. Another Colorado building I cut up to raise it to a good height for large equipment to fit inside

This was a $10.00 after Christmas sale decorative candle holder piece, A mile of blue tape later it now looks better. Roof needs some flat black paint, but its close to done

These were more decorative candle holders, $4.99 each after Christmas last year. Paint, then paint pens for the details

Sophia’s Bakery is another Colorado building. I wish I had ordered the 2 or 3 other buildings I was planning on buying. Contacted him once and was trying to buy some building

s he had but never got to finish the sale

A wide shot of the west side of the layout, I found some flat cement roof tiles that have a good “road” appearance. There is a company that has more I can get if I decide to use them

A view of the north side of the layout. My moms house has been moved to a sunny location, and next to the old bridge that is scheduled for replacement this winter

The rest of the layout, shade in the winter, but the new plants seem to be doing ok, if I can keep the quail and doves from eating them! they seem to really like the asslyum flowers I just planted a month or so ago! GRRR!! Roasted quail may be a item on the household menu if they keep it up

Great looking buildings, Pete. You’ve been busy.

Looking good all gussied up Pete. I like the simulated modern helicopter landing pad on the center building, but you do realize they are usually just a circle with an H in the center, right ?(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

The roof is a coroplast campaign sign, and has not been painted yet, but that’s a great idea!!! He would like that, now to go looking for a 1/24 or close enough scale helicopter to go on top!

Pete,

Looks great! I’ll have top add candle holders to my list or almost-ready-to-go buildings!

Neat. Don’t forget the stairway to the roof access, you might need one of Tim’s doors.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

That big of a stairway would take a while to build! Not sure I want to do that, maybe I will add a small building for helicopter access .

The stairway can just be a door size box in the corner of the roof to suggest an access.

I was thinking something like above because fiddly details won’t hold up in the outdoors Pete.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Exactly what I pictured in my mind David. Let’s see how well it winds up looking when I’m done! Thanks!

Pete,

I’m personally thinking a 1:32 scale chopper however it is your RR and ewer rules with no rulers!

If it was me I would do the H145 but you might “prefer” the Huey yourself.

Just saying
