GR plans built flat and gondola cars #2

Finished up the gondola sides and end panels. Added the brake wheel and couplers. Going to get some transfers and add some steps to finish them off. Doing three at one time is speeded up by making assembly jigs. All the sides are hardwood including the stakes. I pre-drilled all the escutcheon pin holes with my dremel, then snipped all the pins off the back with my dykes. Ground all the pins down almost flush the finished sanding them flat with my belt sander. Squared all the up panels true with the disk sander, notched the deck for the stakes, assembled the sides on, then glued the end panels in. Getting closer to finishing them up. Think the consist will look really good.

Looking good, Ted! What are your plans for lettering?

The old colony railroad. It ran through my town in mid 1800’s and later became the NY NH & Hartford. Then it went back to being the bay colony. It changed many times and many names so ive got a bunch to choose from!
