It Could Have Been Worse

Lesson learned today : Do not leave running trains unattended.

A high/low coupler ( something I’ve had happen on real trains as well. ) resulted in my power running into its own train. I almost lost a locomotive into the lake. That wouldn’t have been good. Surprisingly, there was very little damage. I have about six pieces that need to be repaired on the intermodal cars, but the locomotives faired very well. I got lucky this time.

I added a spacer to the coupler, and the rest of the day was uneventful.

Holy crap that was lucky. Looks quite realistic too, except, fortunately, the ground and rail isn’t all ripped up.

Wow, you know that saying, “That was a near thing”…

That what happen when you let lease equipment on rightaway and the engineer dosn’t know the engine

Dang Shane. Did you lose time going in for the drug and breathalyzer tests? (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I thought that U-Lokomotiv were a class of Austrian steam trains, not “Unterseelokomotive!” I am glad all you got was a lesson learned!

Is that one of the scratchbuilt locomotives?

Wow! Impressive looking crash. Thankfully not much damage.

Well, after that initial incident, I had a great day in the yard. I had 6 locomotives and about 60 cars out for the day. I’m looking forward to getting the track under the deck so I can safely leave things out overnight. Hauling everything to and from the basement is a pain in the butt.

Yes, the lead unit was my Dash9 with the Canadian cab. I don’t think the electronics would have liked doing some underwater exploration. Maybe I should buy some spare electronics while they are still available. ( David I passed…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif) )

I took a bunch of video, so maybe I’ll get something posted in the next day or two.

The SP unit tried really hard to push everything into the lake. It left some rail burns. I’m not sure how long it sat there spinning its wheels. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

I hate when that happens…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Maybe, you shouldn’t have bridges on your RR, they seem to be a curse on you.

And Hazmat isn’t there for all the fuel spilled! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Chris, I sure hope you are wrong. I really like bridges. I definitely need to rethink the approaches to protect equipment from the water.

Shane

You need to fire Don Garlits as the engineer, looks like he was trying a burnout

Haha Pete, I had to look that name up. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)I guess I’m more of a Cale Yarborough guy. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Saw those CN units, couple of days ago the CN derailed 56 loaded grain hoppers - train had over 200 cars !

So your saying there’s a prototype out there for everything we model ?(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

56 cars is a pretty big wreck. Just like the prototype, I’m self insured…ouch. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Now you will have to build a pair of cranes … (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
