JMRI Printing manifests

OK, this is my first foray into using JMRI for Operations…

I have all the locations, cars, locomotives, routes, and trains into the program.

I can build trains, and I can preview the train manifest which shows all the switching moves along the line.

My problem is that I can’t find way or how to go about printing the manifest…

The train manifest shows wonderfully in the ““preview”” screen, but nowhere do I see how to get it printed…

Any help would be wonderful…

PS: I printed out the instructions but for the life of me, I can’t locate them.

Un-Check the Preview box at the bottom of the list of trains. The Preview button will change to a Print button.

EDIT to add: I’m real interested in how this works out for you. I have been struggling to get the program to build trains that follow the pretzel logic in my head as to what cars should end up moving where. I’m also seeing it move the same cars all the time while leaving others sit forever.

I suspect that the “penguins” are to blame. I am just not clear on exactly why they are given a ”pass”…but it’s obviously not up to me.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Thanks Jon & Bruce…

Train manifest printed out fine…

Have Tmark and Mark coming over Friday afternoon and I wanted to give the JMRI

program a test run… Will let you know how it works out…

I guess that the penguins get away with another one!

Bruce, yanno, those things are about as hard to raise right as a Rooster… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

The manifest printing went without a problem…

Looks like I’ll have the same struggle building trains as you, Jon…

The first train built great… However, any subsequent trains are all messed up…

They would only move one freight car… Tried 4 different trains and all the same thing, only one car…

Going to have to go read the manual…

I had the same problem at first, but just kept Building, then Terminating the built trains. Eventually it started building full trains. Took some tweaking and looking over the build reports, but it took awhile.

It could be those pesky penguins! But, more likely something that will show up in the log. If I recall correctly, I ended up changing spur lengths and train sizes to get things to work correctly. There’s some trial and error (mostly errors for me. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif))

One thing that caught me was coupler allowance. If you say a car is 50 Foot; the program needs 54 feet of spur to spot it. I tend to enter my spurs about 1/2 car longer than they actually are.

Ken, I’ll try that, see if that works…

Bruce, I haven’t gotten into any of the actual reports yet…

Jon, All my cars are mostly 40ft cars, so I use 45ft as car length to figure out spur lengths…

I do have a few aristo 2-bay covered hoppers that I equate to 30ft…

Yall’s comments and advise do help, and is much appreciated… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Sounds good. Are you using what they are supposed to be, or actual measurements run through scale conversion? Either way will work so long as you have just a little slack space.

Jon, I just multiplied the scale 45 ft times how many cars I wanted on the siding then added another 5 ft and used that number…

That’s a LIE as you cannot multiply anymore !

I cheated… I used a cal-cu-lum-a-tor… I think that’s what they call them new fangle things… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Just be careful how you do that math!

Edit: Cool, I found a higher resolution version!
