Airwire Convrtr Clone

In my Protothrottle research, I’ve been playing with Airwire quite a bit. Since I don’t get out much, I didn’t know you could still get your hands on these little receivers, but it seems they are plentiful. A quick solder job and connection to my DCC amp and there ya go. Five Amps of DCC battery power. Not bad. If I go for less current, I can remove the heatsink and probably fit this in some pretty small little locos. Those Soundtraxx 2A decoders are pretty small. Hmm.

What did you have to pay for the Linx? (see it’s apparently the older style with 8 freqs)

I got 3 and a CONVRTR 60 for free from someone who is very interested in getting his protothrottle to control his airwire stuff.

Guy who sent them said he can get em for $20 from

But I also found them on Ebay for $30.

I also have one older than the one pictured. They all work great.
