Currently, my train desire is greater than my wallet, so it’s pipe dreaming for now, but what are the options for sound on an early Aristo FA1? Also, best way to get into the body of the same engine? Looking at getting an engineer in the seat of the cab while doing the audio installation.

After reading Greg’s information, you might also read the information on the OVGRS website about installing a Phoenix Sound board in an Aristo-Craft FA-1.
The Aristo Fa unit can have a sound card, speaker, volume control and even reed sensors installed in the tank which can be removed by 4 screws. The pads on the frame are track power for the sound unit. No need to take the top off except for the addition of the engineer that was mentioned.
All due respect Paul, the very first pictures on the very first link I gave have the disassembly instructions and locations of the holes.
Also of note, not all versions of the FA / FB had 10 screws from the factory.
There’s also variations in the internal wiring, and of course the motor blocks.

The Aristo FA1 / FB1 had different version chassis/floors over time.
Some of the real old ones had a couple of obvious hand drilled holes to match up with respective body shell screw hole locations.
