The 4-8-4 was steamed up and the newest (mfg. February) BNSF diesel was at idle along with the Amtrak plus cabooses and '40s passenger cars. The wait to get into the diesel cab for photos was 20 min.
The weather may have resulted in attendance est. just under 30,000 for the two days. The 4000 kids est. made sense considering the two stroller parking areas being jammed. The 1/4 mile+ tent held the modular railroads from So. Calif. clubs and drew hundreds watching.
