      The tender may be hinged at the drawbar, but I wonder whether the thing's designer was fully hinged or not.

      Regarding curves -


      I can't speak to the stock Bachman couplers as I took them off, but the Spectrum version with Accucraft couplers will handle R1 (4ft Dia) S-Curves with no issue. I use mine as a local switcher in areas my other locos can't go.
