Large Scale Central

Pointe Saint Charles caboose

This one may take some time…

I wait the while to make sure I see it through for one. Something tells me the theater will fill up fast on this one. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

He’s improving …Hard to see the green tape …

I’am waiting for the movie

About time you built one of these! Now if you would just build that GP9RM you love so much…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

In case anyone is interested in the history of the “Point St. Charles Caboose”…

It is a design of Caboose, which Canadian National Railways had built at their Point St. Charles shops, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

I have had a number of rides in one or more of these “Vans”, when it was possible to do so, while they were in service. They could be quite comfortable, even in the dead of winter, if the small oil furnace they were equipped with was in good shape, and someone had remembered to make sure the oil tank was filled !! In the heat of Summer, they could get quite warm/hot.

For those that insist on putting lights in just about everything. We always had most lights OFF, as you couldn’t see anything out the windows at night with them on. There was one small light that was used sparingly, while doing the paper work at the desk at the end of the car, by the end widow. But even it being on, ruined your night vision. The cars had Red marker lights on both ends, along with “Ditch lights”. The ditch lights were used for back up moves, and for lighting up the track, when stopped to throw a switch/turnout. It was rather dark back in the bush, at a lonely passing track, if you had to take the hole for a meet. I’d rather not speak of experiencing the use of the toilet “Cupboard” provided…but when in need…!!!

Thanks for the interest.

Fred, the same is true for locomotive cab lights.

Chris, the list is long. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Somebody hasn’t kept a close enough eye on their styrene supply. I ran out of .03" sheet today, so I’m stalled until more arrives.

Nice work, Shane. You are definitely showing the “Feel” of the car, in your model.

Fred Mills

Thanks Fred.

Got the roof on today. I used ABS to add a little strength as it’s a thin sheet.

AMEN !

I’m trying really hard to wrap up the SD40-2w and caboose projects.

Shane

I got the ends and steps mounted today. I think it should be complete by the end of next week. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Markings applied. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)Still painting the small details, and then I’ll need to cut some windows.

Shane

No wipers yet, but I’m going to call it done. It should see service on the Work900 in the next few days. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
