Jib Crane

Part of my Mik build this year will be a manually operated jib crane mounted on the deck of Leroy’s Transfer and Warehouse. In doing some research, I came across this sales catalog from a quarry supplier that among other things sold jib cranes and the associated mechanical and structural parts. Thought some of you may be interested. It can be found here: Brunner and Lay Tool Catalog

The jib crane selection starts on page 40

I personally really like that first one on page 40. Very cool…

That’s a cool old catalog, thanks for sharing it.

When I built the Foundry building a few years back I Got all the information I needed for the Stiff Leg Derrick from a 1914 American Hoist and Derrick Co. catalog copy that I have, some really cool stuff in there.

Here is a picture of the Stiff Leg at the foundry.

Really looking forward to following along on your build.

Rick, I like that derrick, quite unique. I contemplated having a cable operated jib, but decided I would keep it simple since we have a finite amount of time. I will file this one away for later reference.

???, Can’t get much simpler than a 2 drum hand crank Crab with one line to the boom, raise and lower, and one line to the load, raise and lower.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Oh, the idea is simple, but given the time constraints with this particular build, not sure I want to tackle all those moving parts. Although, I am designing a single drum double purchase winch anyway for the jib crane.
