Need Answer- Any interest in lead tire weights?

I found on a guy who’s selling self adhesive tire weight, real LEAD tire weights …none of this zinc nonsense. He’s got two boxed lots, 40 lbs each, way more than I can use but I know there’s been alot of discussion here in the past about weighting items and how these new enviro-friendly zinc weights just aren’t cutting the mustard. I’m considering picking up one or both boxes, and selling off what I dont need. I wouldn’t be asking much, just a few bucks and to mostly just to cover the shipping.

So, if anyone here is interested in this idea, chime in here. Response will dictate if I get both or just one.

Yep, get them and ship them in the USPS flat rate boxes… Get all you can.

Greg

Hi Greg, I’ve committed to one box, waiting to see if there’s any interest here before I drop the other shoe for box 2.

Well Vic, if I had the opportunity, I would nab both of them (that’s just me), because the need never goes away.

I would buy as many as you could get into a small priority box.

I have purchased lead for making lead sailing model keels they shipped 50# in a medium flat rate mailer, not a bad price for the lead either! Those self adhesive weights are useful! I have purchased tireweights from the tire store before finding the on line guy, loots of zinc mixed in plus all those steel clips to deal with in the melting pot…anyhow not really important to this thread but I felt like sharing!

In retrospect a 10 pound bag of bird shot would have been plenty, but I bought 20.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Yeah john my thoughts also that’s why I’ve so far I’ve only committed to one box not two.

I will take a box of weights. Just need to know how to pay.

Not lead… steel in the auction…

Victor has found lead.

Vic, buy everything you can get, I’ll pay. Remember that there is no weight limit on the USPS flat rate boxes, i.e. no extra charge for weight.

Greg

Greg, what weighs more?

a pound of lead.

a pound of Zinc/steel

or a pound of feathers.

Hey John, which gives you the most weight in the least space?

A pound of lead

A pound of steel

A pound of feathers

A “pound sand” post on LSC?

For density, most weight in the least space, not much beats depleted uranium. But for the cost per unit, I am happy with lead.

Hard to say John … not sure what feathers are selling for these days across the pond?

Vic charge an arm and a leg!

I googled lead birdshot and got oodles of places.

$43, free shipping…

In Calif… San Leandro

OK…,

So then, what weighs more…,

A pound of gold or a pound of feathers???

An ounce of gold or an ounce of feathers???

Well there is this - Measuring Gold Weight

Are you using the same measuring system for each or are you thinking Troy ounces?

From wikipedia;

“One troy ounce (abbreviated “t oz” or “oz t”) is equal to31.1034768 grams, (or about 1.0971 oz. avoirdupois, the “avoirdupois” ounce being the most common definition of an “ounce” in the US). There are only 12 troy ounces per troy pound, rather than the 16 ounces per pound found in the more common avoirdupois system.”

You know … inquiring minds thing…

edit to say I edited:I was grabbing the quotation while Mark posted…

Pound of feathers, but ounce of gold. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
