Street lights

Looking for a dozen street lights that would look appropriately sized in 1:20. I want to add some details to the viaduct at Dead Rooster Gulch, and was thinking lights would look neat. All the ones I’ve been able to find, even various dollhouse ones, are short, 6" or so, and the lamp itself is undersized. So far, Google has failed me. Anyone have any ideas?

Possibly Lemax products ?

If you want night time details then lights are good …but if you want bridge details then “pipes down the side” ,ladders/stairs , railing etc come to mind

My Lemax ones are barely tall enough for HO, they’d need a 4-5" stone base…

Bob , I couldn’t find any either so I made my own. It was fairly simple , just soldering brass tubing .This one is 12 and 1/2 inches high. The shade was made of thin brass sheet and it’s a 12 volt bulb.

Friend of mine makes these. All brass w/ LED for light. If you are interested I can hook you up with him.

Yeap! Looks like anything decent 12" high would cost like 13 to 15 dollars each at a minimum. Some older stuff goes for $44!

You should just make your own as you will need a decent quantity and could custom make the look you’re after.

If you have any of the solar stick yard lights with butterflies or other insects on the ends that die, steal the tubes from those!

Brass would be easy to solder to another shape for custom parking lot lights. I made my own modern ones for inside from plastic tubes and LEDs, but they’ll break if they get smacked outside when they get brittle.

The ones in my picture are 9-1/2, but could be made taller. You would probably be surprised on the price.

Mine look odd at a glance. If you look around right now at the new parking lot LED lights, you’ll actually see these in use.

I just glued some custom blocks onto cross members that the poles slot into. I ran the LED wires inside the pipes. I made a couple dozen at once after looking around for nothing available for O scale at the time.

I should size it up for G scale and make more out of brass. The LEDs are extra bright square type in warm white.

As I was typing another member posted his older style lights that look great too.

Hey Bob sorry not seeing your post till this morning here at work. Have you checked out the ones from Locomotive Joe? He makes all brass units and recently did some custom ones for me. I can bring an example by next Friday at open house.

Lionel.

Yes he has some on evilbay now with starting bid of $5.49 I’ve used the before and even changed them over to LED’s, them are goose neck and would probably have to attach to a building, but the look great, Billgoose neck light

Ok the problem was I was trying to do this on my phone. Here is the light pole finished and on the layout. I am now casting these in Brown or Black.

first pic shows the detail

If you are looking for a simple ball style/pole light, hit up Al Kramer. He seems to always be hocking thousands of these lights on eBay and in his shop pretty cheap too. Might be the same issue of being a bit short, but maybe a starting point to customize.

Also at one point Bridge Masters had house lights (attach to building) and free standing lights at a pretty good price as well.
