Lets See Your GRR Videos!

For the last 3+ years I’ve been spending too much time producing my Ham Radio Podcast.

The kids have decided we need more trains, and earlier today I dug in and located some past videos from our GRR adventures!

We may need some encouragement-so post us up some videos to watch!

First Up, Snow in SC back at the Old House (2010)
3rd Version of NBRR

Then a few months later we had to make the move to the Farm!

Thanks!

Cale,

You have been gone since LSC added the secure site certificate. Now all older videos require an https:/ address. I added it to yours in this quote.

I like the snow videos and the slipping!

Here is one of my plowing videos from this year where the wedge, rotary and blower were used.

Here is a fun one from the Summer.

Here is a video of my leaf blower working to clear the layout…

…or not! I added the “S” in the http:// part of the address location.

Sean,

That leaf blower works pretty slick! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Todd,

These videos have to have a https:// address to work on this site.

I can see the videos in the original post as well as the re-post?

Joe I look for the “s” when I post them and there there … I can’t figure why

Cale,

While you were gone BD updated LCS to a secure site. We all had to change our bookmarks to https://largescalecentral.com and re-log in.

If you did not do that then you are logging in to a non-secure site http://largescalecentral.com and videos with http:// addresses WILL show up. You also will be less protected against hackers and phishing.

Look for a pad lock symbol in the left side of your browsers address bar. That is your assurance you are on a secure site. Try it for yourself using the two link variations I put in this post. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

When I look at your source code (when your video does not show up) the S is not there.

I don’t know. Works fine for me as is.

Shawn,

Your first two videos have incomplete addresses and the other two needed the https:// address, so I added the “S”

Guys,

In order for videos to be embedded on https://largescalecentral, we need to have locations that have an https:// address. When Bob McCown made LSC a secure website we had to log in to the secure LSC. Apparently some of you are still logged into the non-secure LSC. That is why some of you can see the old videos and those who are on the secure LSC cannot. I have been reposting a lot of videos lately adding the “S” to the video address so we all can see the video.

Here is an explanation of what the internet says about secure websites…

What does it mean by https?
Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure
Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (https) is a combination of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) with the Secure Socket Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. TLS is an authentication and security protocol widely implemented in browsers and Web servers.

Why do we need SSL Certificate?
Any computer in between you and the server can see your credit card numbers, usernames and passwords, and other sensitive information if it is not encrypted with an SSL certificate. When an SSL certificate is used, the information becomes unreadable to everyone except for the server you are sending the information to.

Shawn,

Vimeo seems to work a little differently than YouTube. Even without the “S” a browser will recognize and convert the http address to https and display the video. LSC will not automatically convert it. I hope this makes some sense to you. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

Thanks Joe. I did it on my smart phone. Strange how some worked and the others didn’t. The only option the cell gives is copy, not showing the actual address.
