Getting out of 1:29 ?

As I was expanding my indoor RR this winter it was hard to ignore my under utilized collection of 1:29 locos and cars. It’s not large collection by any means and not un-loved, but it seems like a lot of cash tied up is stuff I rarely run. None of it is in pristine condition, but most is “good” or better. I’m not quite ready to price them, but am open to offers. Most have original display boxes and some also have the shipping box. I’d rather not ship and will not be at ECLSTS, but I will be at Ken’s in April and Bob’s in August. Here is a partial list…

ARISTO

Wedge Plow: Bashed from EBTRR gondola #31 in black and red, 2 ea. 12v 3 LED modules, wired for train-line power (Aristo plug) - UNIQUE!

USA TRAINS

Early production GP-9: New Haven “McGuiness scheme” in black. Aristo compatible battery plugs added with track/battery switch. Axles replaced. No traction tires. Phoenix speaker only - wired for trail car sound, #1224

40 Ft. Steel Box car: New Haven “McGuiness scheme” in black, metal wheels

40 Ft. “American Series” (1:24) Wood Reefer: New Haven script logo in Oxide & Silver, metal wheels

LIONELL

40 Ft. Steel Box car: Union Pacific in Oxide, metal wheels.

I will pull them out for pictures if there is interest. I’m not asking top dollar, but don’t want to give them away either. Will certainly consider 1:20.3 locos or rolling stock as trade.

Thanks for looking

John,

I know you said your not real interested in shipping and I respect that. But if your willing to bend from that I wouldn’t mind a discussion on your USA GP9. PM me if your willing to discuss it.

John,
Ditto what Devon said, but I would be interested in the USAT boxcar. I’m looking for something that I can tear apart for parts.

2nd Gen RS-3. ECLSTS Show loco: Western Maryland Black “Speedball”, #186

Jon,You have an offer on the above (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Thanks guys. The post was to gauge interest, obviously there is some. You each have first dibs on your item of interest assuming we can come together on price. I will take pictures & research pricing on Sunday, then get back to each of you.

Y’all should know, however, that I do have some sentimental attachment to the New Haven train and would really love to see it stay together. I’m going to check with my LHS who buys collections and see what he would offer for it complete before I break it up and go from there.

John I may be in interested in the sd45 with local pick up

cheers richard

OK Richard; You have first dibs on the SD45. Guess I’m going to be running some 1:29 tomorrow for photo ops (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Dave Marconi has 1st dibs on the WM RS-3, Devon has 1st dibs on the GP-9 and Craig has first dibs on the box car. All subject to statements above and ability to agree on price. So far, negotiations with Hollywood have us $2K apart (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Hi Jon, I’m interested in the atsf wedge plow.

I honestly didn’t think there would be this much interest, but I’m glad there is. So far now I am going to withdraw two items, The Lehigh Valley RS-3 and the EBTRR Wedge Plow just in case I decide to plow snow again some day

That leaves the New Haven Reefer, Long Steel Caboose and the Lionel UP boxcar still with no takers.

I thought we were going to split the difference down the middle and call the deal done.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Oh sure; I’ll ship it, cover that cost and you send me $0. Sounds like a win-win for you (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-money-mouth.gif)

Seriously; I got it out for pictures yesterday. Fun got in the way and I didn’t get to editing the pictures yet, but will have something soon. It has some condition issues which I took close-ups of. Depending on why you chose this one over the LV one, you may want to consider taking the other. You will understand when I post the pics.

Well, after meticulous inspection of all items listed, and many detail photographs of each; I’ve decided again to change my offering. Those of you that watch American Pickers know that they often get to a pick to find out that the seller has sentimental attachment and can’t let go. I think that’s my problem with the New Haven train. It was my first Large Scale Locomotive and caboose. The box car and reefer were added later to make a small train in all New Haven colors. So, bottom line; Devon decided he shouldn’t buy my GP9 and Craig is take it or leave it on the boxcar that he was going to strip. So I will withdraw all the New Haven lettered items and no one will be dissapointed. I moved them to a display shelf in my train room so I can enjoy them even if not running them.

As such; I’m putting the Lehigh Valley RS-3 back on the block since the GP9 can handle plow duty should I ever wish to freeze my butt off running winter trains again (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

I am working on a photo post of the items I am leaving on the list, plus some additions. Stay tuned; it will be up in an hour or so.

I’d be interested in the Lehigh Valley RS-3

As promised, here are detail, pricing and photos for the items I have decided to let go. Those items that have had indication of interest are listed with “dibs” or in other words, right of first refusal. If you showed interest earlier and are no longer interested for any reason, please post that publicly here so others my see the item as available.

All photos are very high resolution. LSC will display them at 800 pixels. To see full resolution use your browser’s ‘view image’ function.

Boxes for the RS-3s?

Yes, including the external shipping box. The black one is sold.

Hey Daktah!

Yes Jon, you were also missed. ;-(

Understand your scale specializing, this was the first time the Time Saver was totally 1:20.3. The bigger rolling stock does create a bigger challenge.

Again this year the “Time Saver” was back to the original puzzle, but we did get to bring along the new “Inglenook” platform and may even have some track down by next year. The folding tables worked great as legs and they are a lot easier to set up and haul.

Live progresses on.

Cool Ric. My 1:29 stuff was pretty much relegated to snow plow service. All of the Delton stuff I used to run with these locos (and the ones I got from you last year) have been converted to Accucraft couplers and used as small Fn3 stock to fill out my roster, so I didn’t have enough 1:29 stuff to make a train of any length. With this sale making some room on the shelves I can un-box my Delton wood hoppers and convert them too.
