Large Scale Central

New Texaco Station

After having my old station rot out I decided to go with plastic. Started with a Colorado Structures gas station. It had brick so I covered it with plastic to look like the station I used to work at as a teen. It is lit by LED’s inside and under the canopy. Got most of the stuff online or ebay. Everything is plastic or metal. My wife cut the lettering on the station and the stars, she used to have a sign business. Will get the station out this spring.

Sure have troubles getting photos to work. Got them in my Freight Shed, can’t seem to get them to post here.

There you go…

Posted for Jerry.

You can trust your car

To the man who wears the Star…

Ya done good, Jerry.

Jerry,

If you are interested, I have one of these still sealed in the original shrink wrap. It would make a nice addition. Let me know if you are interested.

BTW, no affiliation with the ebay add. It’s just there so you can see what is included.

Looks nice, Jerry.

About a year ago, my wife picked up a Gas Station model kit in 1/24, from AMT. It came with just 3 walls and a partial roof, so it could be displayed and show everything inside. I was going to add the fourth wall, and complete the roof, to use on my layout, but lost interest. Now I have something to look forward to as yours is very appealing.

Thanks guys. Saw those kits, when I was starting out, was not sure they would hold up to the elements. Now I don’t have room for anything else, sorta crowded on there! I liked that oil can rack better than the one I got.

Fantastic job. Looks great. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Thanks for the photo fix, maybe you can do it to this one also. I put LED’s in the station and under the canopy. Texaco light came with them installed. I got warm LED sets for the station and the car from ModelTrainSoftware.com Nice thing about the sets is they are wired so polarity does not matter. They have all different sizes/types and are very friendly. So this is how it will look at night out on the layout a little later in the spring.

John

Got the station outside yesterday. Makes a nice scene, with the A&W(I think!). Note the cop car, it has a red/blue flashing led on it, he is giving a ticket by the door of the pickup. Texaco sign sways nice in the wind. Need to get the rest of the people out in the layout yet. Need to weed also!

Love your lighting applications Jerry. Really adds another perspective to your layout. Will start working on some this summer too. What are you using for a power supply for the lights?

Thanks Steve, how do you do that?

I right click, using Firefox, on the photo, then copy the URL.

Then I open the photo device on the header of the text window ( the little box in the first line of buttons that looks like a mountain with either the sun or moon ), then paste the URL (must be a .jpg) into the appropriate space, then size the photo to 800 X 600.

Hit the “do it button,” and you have just placed your photo on LSC.
