When I attended TrainOps this year, I managed to talk Bob into allowing me to make a building. At the Invasion, Fred had given me a clear acrylic cube that measured 1 foot on each side. I thought it might make a good start for a building.
But, first, I had to come up with a plan.
Oops. Not THAT one again. 
I didn’t have a napkin handy so I got out a small sheet of paper to make a detailed plan.
OK…a bit more detail than necessary, but I think it could work.
Of course all plans are subject to change when building. I started by drawing some lines on the cube.
I liked the look of Bob’s coaling tower, with the brick inset into concrete, so I’m going with that look. I’ll use 6 mm foamed PVC for the concrete. The brick will be put on top of some 3 mm sheet.
First, I make some corners out of the 6mm stuff. They are each a scale foot wide. I glued them in place and put some weights to hold them until dry.
Next, I built a loading dock and glued it to the building.
Then, some more concrete strips. I was originally thinking of a small addition out the side, but I’m thinking I may just go with this look. I was thinking a 1 story cube glued to it, but I’m not sure I like that idea. Either way, I’ll have to add a door somewhere…
Anyway, there’s plenty of time to decide.
