Installing background sounds in layout buildings

Any ideas, circuits, suggestions for a battery operated continuous sound system for an industrial building?

James - these two sound boards may do what you are seeking. Both will run for some time on batteries - if you want LOUDer sounds you may need to add an additional amplifier and larger speaker.

A Four Sound USB Sound Card & the PCC Trolley

A Very Capable, Inexpensive MP3 Sound System

I have used both in a number of different projects and you can use whatever sounds you like as you add them as sound files.

Thanks Dave

I will look into your suggestions.

Here is one that I have used with great sucess. you can operate 8 different sounds directly from either push buttons on the board or if you install a 9 pin header you can install remote buttons or read switches. Aditionally you can push the play button on the board and it will cycle through all the MP3 files you have stored on the SD card. up too 99 files. It is more expensive, but $28.50 is still a good bargan I think when it comes to adding sound to a railroad structure or train . http://www.mdfly.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=763

Here is the manual for it.

Evelyn has some tiny MP3 players she found at Frye Electronics. She just puts sound she wants and tells it to repeat. Her church rings the bell every few minutes.

Thanks all of you for your help.

I ordered a couple of the boards and some background sounds from Green Frog.

I hope to work on them soon.
