Battery power for a Kalamazoo loco

I have a 4-4-0 Kalamazoo engine that I’d like to convert to battery power. I see that it uses plungers that rub the rear of the drivers, and the motor block also seems to be glued together so access to the motor will be difficult to say the least! Any suggestions?

I don’t recall Kalamazoo using glue in their motor blocks. If there aren’t screws hidden behind the drivers or someplace that you’re not seeing right away, perhaps just a bit of “friendly persuasion” might work to separate the two halves of the motor block. I’ve not heard of grease congealing and holding things together, but Kalamazoo locos haven’t been made in nearly 25 years. Who knows what’s going on inside that motor block…

Thanks for the reply!! I didn’t know the loco was that old!! I will forge ahead then, remove the drivers and see what I find.
