Using S88 train detection in the garden

I’m planning a 300 feet long railroad in the garden. I want to use some kind of train detection unit. Has anyone experience using S88 train detection units in the garden? The S88 units are connected by a network cable. That means that I probably have to lay a long network cable (70-80 feet) in the ground.
Any comments are appreciated.

Hans,

Welcome Aboard! You are way out of my league, but I’m sure some of our “Sparky’s” will chime in.

I have had great success with this one.

Very reliable, had 14 trains on one track display and kept them from having collisions

Hi Hans, When I started to inquire about the different track detection gizmos - the plan is that one day I’ll use Train Controller (Railroad & Co) to have an oldfashioned version of the RhB CTC - people warned me off the S88 because of the lack of reliability. What I ended up buying is the units from RR-CirKits; according to GRR users very reliable. There is a slew of jobs ahead of that project, but … one day!
