Ah, that was it. I just ordered 3 sets. I want to add one switch, and that will be a rebuild. The other two are to be held in reserve.

The spiker makes things go so fast, I need to build a better jig to hold the rail. Its very easy to make a mistake quickly now!

I guess a jig will be the first thing to build. I'm going to be very interested to see what you add to yours

me too! Im not sure what Im going to do. It has to be L/R independent, or something. Im wondering if a piece of cut aluminum in the arc of the diverging rail might not be the thing to do. Some .125 aluminum bar

I don't know about that little one that Bruce uses.

I like the idea of laying the whole switch out

yea.. thats the way my ties are now. I wonder if I can make a #6 and #8 jig that I can turn over to use for a left/right swtich, to let me spike one whole side of a rail in place. Hmm. I wonder what my stock of aluminum plate looks like? Hrm...

a flat bar for the straight rail, and a curved one for the diverging rail. 2 holes in each, with a spacer and bolts that go into it, and the whole thing attaches to the tie jig.

Oh sure. Make it out of something I don't have!

once you have the 2 main rails in place, the rest is pretty easy

I might just go with large rod to hold it in place..

I was thinking 1/2 inch ply for a base. Use some 1/4" aluminum rod to make pins to hold the rail...but maybe that's getting too complex

Which is why YOU need to work out the basic design
